Hidalgo: "We have earned this calm through hard work"

SD Huesca coach spoke ahead of the last match of the season, with his side's place already secured

Task completed. The Azulgranas face their last encounter of the season having avoided relegation and eager to offer a victory to their fans at El Alcoraz: "It has been tough, but we have reached the end safely. It took longer than expected, but we've achieved our goal and earned this calm through hard work. Now we want to enjoy it at home with our people," stated Antonio Hidalgo before the match against Levante UD.

The coach acknowledged: "It has been a very tough month - we had it in our hands and, in the end, it got excessively complicated. The victory against Elche was key to beat drop and the last one confirmed it. If we distributed the last defeats throughout the year, they would be normal. However, in the end you lose confidence and the situation got a bit complicated."

Hidalgo also highlighted the group's unity as one of the keys to this season. "We have a great group that has pushed each other at all times. I have been here to constantly push them and make sure they kept believing in those difficult moments. They have done it and that strength gives you points because in those tough moments you have to stick together."

With the last home game, the Altoaragoneses will try to improve their numbers at El Alcoraz. "Hopefully, we can finish with a victory in front of our people, who have always been by our side, to thank them for the support they've given us because, obviously, the home record can be much better." He expects a match with "a different kind of tension," but "respecting the competition, the players, and our fans. We will go for the win, we are preparing well and will approach the match just like the others."

The coach also clarified doubts about his future. "I have a contract here and I'm happy in Huesca. We are already preparing for the preseason. We've done great a good job together and knowing that this year was too close for comfort, we have to raise the level of demand. The crucial moment is coming, we have to get the squad composition right and we have been working on that since yesterday with Angel. Depending on the financial situation, we have to find the profiles we are looking for the team. It's about getting the profiles right, more than the names."
