A Malata put an end to the Azulgranas' streak

SD Huesca saw their run of eleven unbeaten matches end with a 2-1 loss to Racing Ferrol, despite having taken the lead in the first half

A Malata ended SD Huesca's streak. After eleven unbeaten matches, Antonio Hidalgo's side were defeated on their trip to Galicia. Given the tightly contested Segunda Division lately, achieving results without struggle becomes almost impossible, especially on a venue like A Malata. SD Huesca experienced this firsthand, as despite a strong first half where they took the lead, they had to leave the stadium empty-handed due to two unfortunate actions that proved costly.

Although the hosts aimed to control possession from the beginning, they did not put too much pressure on Alvaro, managing only a few corner kicks as their clearest opportunities. The SD Huesca defense maintained a rock-solid performance, intercepting passes and initiating counterattacks. Elady's shot in the 27th, after intercepting Ferrol's ball clearance, marked SD Huesca's first attempt on target, initiating their best moments. Only ten minutes later, Vilarrasa almost surprised with a corner kick, but the goalkeeper saved a direct goal. This served as a warning for what would happen two minutes later, when Javi Martinez received a through ball to smash home.

This allowed SD Huesca to enter the second half with a valuable lead, increasing pressure on the hosts. Ferrol made a strong start to the second 45, first attempting a long-range shot that went wide, then creating a series of clearances in the box that resulted in a corner kick. The home team pressed hard until Alvaro Gimenez managed to level matters, taking advantage of their numerical superiority with Gerard Valentin being treated on the sidelines. With the tie, Racing seemed to be the fresher, fueled by the support of their fans. This was confirmed by their second goal in the 65th, a shot from outside the box that wrong footed Alvaro. Hidalgo quickly made changes, substituting Joaquin and Juanjo Nieto for Iker Kortajarena and Jeremy Blasco first and then Samuel Obeng and Enzo Lombardo for Hugo Vallejo and Gerard Valentin. The clock was ticking against SD Huesca, who struggled to finish off towards the local goal, ultimately ending up empty-handed, eleven matches later.
